my first words....

Pip is saying her first words! To further re-enforce her social butterfly personality, she waved and said "Hi!" The boys are all thrilled. She is also so close to crawling and she is sooo frustrated that she can't take off yet. Although she can "army-crawl" and roll across rooms: Sam left her in the playroom and came back to find her down the hall almost to her room. The gate at the top of the stairs went up today!

Hard to believe, but this happy little girl has been in this world for 7 months now.

26.5 in  (75th percentile)

happiness: 100%!!!

Yes, she is officially mobile. Watch out world--here comes Pippa James! Here she rolled herself under the end table and hung out there for 10 minutes, playing with the legs and underside of the table. 

my first tooth is in...

For some reason, this makes me incredibly sad. Just the first step in her growing up, I guess. 

4 month check-up...

yes it is a bow in her non-existent hair...Sad, I know

Today was Pip's 4 month check-up. She is doing amazing, of course--even impressing our pediatrician with her ability to roll over. She weighed in at 14lb 13oz (dropping to 65% percentile in weight, but with all her new found movement, she is burning more calories) and measured 25 1/4in at 75% in length. She got two more vaccines today and amazingly, she did not cry at all with either shot! Just kind of looked at the nurse like, hey, what did you do that for? And the best part of all for her brothers: she got super hero bandaids.

Pippa has also figured out rolling over--front to back and back to front. Every morning she is topsy-turvy in the crib--turned 180 degrees and on her back, instead of tummy.  I am trying to get video of her rolling without success so far. She is a little tricky though, as she seems to like to roll only when no one is looking!

Pip had her first bites of food, after trying to grab food from our plates and hands for 3 weeks now. Up first, mashed bananas and she adored them. A bit shy of 4 months, I know, but it was getting to the point where i felt guilty eating in front of her!

2 month check-up

Hey you butterfly, come here.
Pippa James had her two month check-up and as expected she is perfect. Up to 13lb 5.5oz in the 85% percentile (!) and 23.75 in in the 80 percentile. Growing out of 3 month clothes already! She had 3 shots today too and I'd like to say she handled it with cool detachment and grace, but alas she cried like a...well you know. :)

This is the best one I could capture, but I'll keep trying! Look at those jowls, will ya? She is filling out all over. No more petite princess at this point!

one month checkup...

Miss Anna Phillipa had her one month check-up and she is right on target with her growth and development. No shots today--hooray! Her weight is up from 7lb 3 at birth to 8 lb 3oz at one week to now....ta-da! 10lb 1 oz at one month! That is the 75% percentile! Height is 22in at 60%. So definitely following in her brothers' footsteps.

name change...

In the spirit of the political season that is now upon us Sam and I are not sure if we mispoke or have our position on the issue has simply evolved. :) Regardless, after weeks of getting to know our beautiful daughter, and after much thought, conversation and soul searching (not to mention an enjoyable half day spent by Sam playing Angry Birds at the State Department of Vital Records) Sam and I have decided to change our daughter's name to Anna Phillipa. Therefore we have officially updated her name to Anna Phillipa James Fitts. Sam and the boys continue to call her Pippa James: I prefer Anna James--I just feel like it fits her. I know it is a late decision, but we are very happy with it
